Expanded Welfare Initiatives and Financial Aid for Vulnerable Groups
Tehran, Iran – In a significant move to support low-income families, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation has announced a special subsidy package of 1.5 million tomans per month for eligible recipients, including orphans and children of Mohsenin (families without a guardian or with an incarcerated father).
The initiative is part of broader welfare efforts across multiple provinces, including Tehran and Zanjan, aimed at alleviating economic hardships and promoting charitable activities.
Charity Campaigns and Food Distribution
Mohammad Dehruyeh, a representative of the Relief Foundation in Tehran, highlighted the success of the Hosseini Iftar and Charity Campaign, which has distributed over 5,600 livelihood packages and 64,000 hot meals to needy families since the beginning of Muharram.
The campaign, backed by generous donors and charity organizations, has mobilized 285 community kitchens and allocated 940 billion tomans in cash and non-cash contributions.
Employment and Housing Support
In Zanjan province, 3,147 job opportunities were created last year, alongside the construction or reinforcement of 1,167 residential units, primarily in rural areas.
Additionally, the Relief Foundation provides monthly financial aid to vulnerable groups:
- 3 million tomans per orphan
- 1.5 million tomans per child in Mohsenin families
Educational and Cultural Programs
Beyond financial aid, the foundation has expanded its support to include:
- Free vocational workshops (e.g., carpet-weaving)
- Book-reading clubs and youth creativity sessions
- Employment loans, with 70% allocated to current beneficiaries and 30% to non-affiliated but capable individuals
Community and Volunteer Efforts
Local volunteer groups, including the Basij Resistance Force, have actively contributed by:
- Distributing 15-million-rial livelihood packages (containing rice, oil, pasta, and meat)
- Collecting 5 million rials in donations for Gaza
- Serving 48 million rials in aid to pilgrims during Arbaeen
Conclusion
These initiatives underscore Iran’s commitment to social welfare, economic empowerment, and community solidarity. With sustained charitable participation, the Relief Foundation aims to further expand its reach, ensuring no family is left without essential support.
