Title: August Subsidy Payments Deposited for Eligible Households
Cash Subsidies Disbursed as Scheduled
In August 2024, only cash subsidies will be deposited into the accounts of eligible household heads, with no new phase of the electronic goods coupon scheme being implemented. This follows the July distribution, where the third phase of the coupon program was executed for the first to seventh income deciles, granting 500,000 tomans to the first three deciles and 350,000 tomans to the fourth through seventh deciles for essential goods purchases.
According to the Targeted Subsidies Organization, August’s cash subsidies will be distributed as follows:
- First to third deciles: 400,000 tomans per person, deposited on August 25.
- Fourth to ninth deciles: 300,000 tomans per person, deposited on August 31.
Unlike July, where combined cash and coupon subsidies for lower-income groups reached 900,000 tomans, August payments will only include the fixed cash amounts, unchanged since May 2022.
Subsidy Breakdown by Household Size
First to third deciles:
- 2-person household: 800,000 tomans
- 3-person household: 1,200,000 tomans
- 4-person household: 1,600,000 tomans
- 5-person household: 2,000,000 tomans
Fourth to ninth deciles:
- 2-person household: 600,000 tomans
- 3-person household: 900,000 tomans
- 4-person household: 1,200,000 tomans
- 5-person household: 1,500,000 tomans
Parliamentary Decision on Subsidy Adjustments
While parliament has approved reallocating subsidies from the eighth and ninth deciles to the first three, implementation details remain pending. The Minister of Labor confirmed that this adjustment will take effect after September 2024, meaning August subsidies will be distributed without changes.
Payment Schedule for August
First Phase – Welfare Beneficiary Pensions (August 20)
- Pensions for recipients of the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and the State Welfare Organization will be deposited, reflecting a 40% increase since the start of the year.
Second Phase – Cash Subsidies for Low-Income Deciles (August 25)
- First to third deciles receive 400,000 tomans per person, available for withdrawal from midnight.
Third Phase – Cash Subsidies for Middle-Income Deciles (August 31)
- Fourth to ninth deciles receive 300,000 tomans per person, unchanged since spring 2023.
Electronic Goods Coupon Program
The third phase of the electronic coupon program remains active until August 31, allowing eligible households to redeem unused credits at partnered stores.
Key Considerations
- Bank Account Issues: Subsidies may be withheld or reduced for households with unpaid bank debts or blocked accounts.
- Separate Accounts Recommended: The Targeted Subsidies Organization advises keeping subsidy accounts separate from other banking transactions to avoid complications.
This structured payment system ensures continued financial support for eligible households while maintaining transparency and efficiency in distribution.
