Regional Tensions Flare: Iraqi Resistance Claims Extensive Drone Strikes on US Bases; Baghdad Condemns Escalation and Aggression Against Iran
Baghdad, Iraq – The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has announced a significant escalation of its operations, claiming responsibility for 16 drone strikes targeting US bases in Iraq and the wider region. The development comes amidst heightened regional tensions, prompting an official response from the Iraqi government condemning both internal attacks and foreign military aggressions against neighboring countries.
Resistance Claims Multiple Drone Operations
In a statement released recently, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq asserted that its fighters carried out 16 drone operations using dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles against American military installations. The group indicated that further details regarding these attacks would be released subsequently.
Concurrently, Iraq’s Hezbollah Brigades issued a statement calling for a “prolonged war of attrition” against US forces in the region. This declaration was made in response to what the group described as recent military tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, signaling a potential for further destabilization.
Iraqi Government’s Response to Regional Dynamics
The claims from the resistance groups follow an announcement by Iraq’s Joint Operations Command, which reported that the Jurf al-Nasr area, located north of Babil province, had been subjected to two aerial attacks. The precise nature and origin of these attacks were not specified in the initial reports.
Iraqi officials are actively monitoring the situation, working to assess the full scope of events and implement necessary measures to safeguard the nation’s security and stability. As of now, no information regarding potential damages or casualties from the claimed drone operations or the aforementioned airstrikes has been released.
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned attacks against central Iraq and the Kurdistan region, categorizing them as a severe threat to national security and stability. Emphasizing its commitment to regional peace, Iraq further stressed its condemnation of “continuous military aggressions against neighboring Iran.” The Ministry underscored its belief that any expansion of the scope of conflict poses a significant threat to all countries in the region, advocating for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions to preserve stability.
