Government and Charitable Bodies Expand Welfare Support with New Subsistence Packages for Vulnerable Families
In a coordinated effort to bolster social welfare, government agencies and charitable organizations have launched a new phase of subsistence aid distribution, targeting low-income and vulnerable households across multiple provinces.
Multi-Sector Collaboration for Social Support
The initiative, which includes the distribution of monthly subsistence packages, is being carried out under the directive of the Endowments and Charity Affairs Organization. The head of the board of trustees for the shrine of Seyed Alaeddin Hussein in Shiraz confirmed that this distribution process among the Afaq centers of holy shrines will continue with strength.
Hojatoleslam wal-Muslemin Seyed Mohiuddin Taheri emphasized that the funding for these packages is secured through collaboration between the Provincial Endowments Office, the shrine complex, and benefactors. He added that alongside the distribution of subsistence packages, other supportive measures for needy residents around the shrine are also on the agenda.
Prioritizing Aid and Expanding Reach
Reports indicate that over one thousand households around the shrine are covered by the Afaq center, with initial priority given to 500 families. Distribution is conducted periodically based on prioritization and is not limited to a specific group.
The head of Fars Province’s Endowments Office announced the execution of the fifteenth phase of the “Twelfth Promise” plan. Hojatoleslam wal-Muslemin Seyed Abbas Mousavi stated that, in conjunction with Waqf Week, 5,000 subsistence packages, each valued at 2 million tomans, have been prepared and distributed.
Commemorative Initiatives and Educational Support
In a separate but related development, the head of the working group for the 3000 Martyrs Congress of Semnan province announced that 3,000 subsistence packages will be donated to needy families in honor of the martyrs. Furthermore, 3,000 classrooms in the province are slated for renovation and repair, dedicated to the memory of the martyrs. In anticipation of the new academic year, over 10,000 educational packages for needy students are also being distributed.
Localized Community Efforts
Similar grassroots efforts are underway in other regions. The manager of the Shahid Hashemi Cultural and Quranic Base in Malard County highlighted the distribution of support packages, each valued at approximately 15 million rials, to residents of underprivileged neighborhoods. The packages contain essential food items such as rice, oil, tomato paste, soy, pasta, chickpeas, beans, and lentils, collected and packaged with the help of benefactors.
The base provides support to 2,800 families in the Saraasiyaab area and its surroundings, plus an additional 2,200 families outside Malard County. Efforts are now focused on preparing supportive measures for school supplies and necessities for the beginning of the academic year.
Strengthening Cultural and Religious Foundations
The head of the Endowments and Charity Affairs Department of Astaneh Ashrafieh County outlined the department’s dual mission, which includes Quranic education and the promotion of religious programs. He detailed the “Twelfth Promise” plan, through which monthly subsistence packages are prepared and presented to vulnerable groups in the county in the name of Imam Zaman (AJ). To date, one thousand packages, each valued between 350,000 to 500,000 tomans, have been distributed with the help of mosque boards of trustees.
Additionally, 580 packages of stationery and school supplies, totaling 330 million tomans, were prepared and gifted to students. Medical equipment worth 510 million tomans, aligned with endowment proceeds, was also purchased and delivered to the Kosar Hospital in Astaneh Ashrafieh.
This comprehensive approach underscores a continued commitment to social welfare, combining government resources with community and religious philanthropy to support those in need.
