Title: New Initiative Announced to Integrate Retired Police Veterans into National Service
In a significant move to honor and leverage the expertise of its retired personnel, a senior Iranian law enforcement commander has announced a new, structured program aimed at formally integrating veterans into the nation’s security and social frameworks.
Honoring a Legacy of Service
The announcement was made by Sardar Hossein Hassanpour, the Police Commander of Gilan Province, during a ceremony in Langarud held to honor veterans of the Law Enforcement Force. Commander Hassanpour conveyed a message from the national police chief, underscoring that veterans have always been held in high regard. He emphasized that the new initiative is designed to systematically utilize their invaluable experience in high-level decision-making and policy formation.
“These individuals served with integrity, authority, and sacrifice to preserve the security and values of the Islamic Republic,” Hassanpour stated. “Their resolve remains firm today, with many still actively involved in missions, demonstrating a continued spirit of cooperation.”
Structuring a New Role for Veterans
A key part of the new strategy involves creating a formal mechanism to channel the capabilities of the retired force. Commander Hassanpour revealed that the formation of a third organization, centered on these veterans, has been proposed. In Gilan province, this new structure will soon be established to tap into their intellectual and experiential capacity.
Highlighting the scale of this potential resource, the commander pointed to the presence of approximately 10,000 retired personnel in the province alone, who are active in various social spheres including urban and rural communities, mosques, Basij bases, and religious centers.
Retirement: A New Chapter of Active Contribution
Sardar Hassanpour firmly rejected the notion of retirement as a period of inactivity, framing it instead as the beginning of a new, vital chapter. “You served for thirty years, and God willing, you will now see the fruits of your efforts in both material and spiritual aspects for the next fifty,” he told the veterans. He stressed the importance of their continued role in political, cultural, and religious activities, reinforcing their place within the national fabric.
Addressing Welfare and Livelihood
Acknowledging the practical concerns of retirees, the commander assured that their livelihood issues are a clear priority. “Your challenges are palpable to us, and we have programs on our agenda to improve living conditions,” he said. While acknowledging certain limitations, he confirmed that efforts are underway in cooperation with various organizations to implement support schemes that alleviate these concerns.
Specific projects in housing and cooperatives are being rolled out, offering facilities and loans aimed at reducing the costs of housing and marriage for the veterans’ children, thereby ensuring their continued participation and stability.
Fostering a Culture of Appreciation
Beyond material support, the gatherings are intended to boost morale, expand human connections, and maintain strong bonds within the law enforcement family. “Honoring veterans is not merely about giving gifts or hosting receptions,” Commander Hassanpour explained. “It is about creating an organizational culture of support, in line with Islamic teachings of kindness and mercy. Closeness and visitation with veterans will rejuvenate vibrancy and strengthen spirituality within our force.”
He concluded by affirming the duty of the current force to stand alongside its predecessors with a supportive approach, answering their needs and concerns, just as they once secured the safety of the nation.
