Tehran’s Deputy Governor Outlines Market Stabilization Measures for Key Commodities
TEHRAN – In a statement addressing recent market dynamics, the Deputy Governor of Tehran for Economic Affairs has provided a comprehensive update on the supply and pricing of essential goods, with a particular focus on poultry and bread.
Addressing Poultry Supply Challenges
The official acknowledged that poultry producer unions had previously requested price adjustments, citing justifiable reasons. He noted that the delay in implementing these adjustments had, in some instances, led to a reluctance to supply and limitations in distribution.
“Fortunately,” he stated, “with the determination and announcement of a new rate for the consumer, the supply of chicken is now proceeding normally.” He emphasized that should this stable supply trend be disrupted, authorities will deal decisively and to the fullest extent of the law with any violators found to be hoarding or manipulating the market.
Stability in Bread Prices Reaffirmed
Turning to the staple of bread, the deputy governor firmly denied any plans for a price increase. “There is no program to increase the price of bread,” he asserted. “The current rate of bread is a fair price, and all costs and items that some claimed required review have been incorporated into the new price.”
He made it clear that no justifications for raising prices would be accepted from any bakery.
Strengthened Oversight and Enforcement
Concluding his remarks, the official stressed that bakeries are obligated to adhere to the officially mandated prices in accordance with all laws and regulations. He confirmed that supervisory measures are continuing at their highest level, with an intensified inspection plan firmly in place.
“Inspectors are continually present at bakeries,” he said, “carrying out the process of monitoring and oversight to ensure full compliance.”
