Title: Mazandaran Implements Weekend Traffic Plan to Ease Northern Travel
In a move to streamline travel and enhance safety, Mazandaran’s Road Police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for the upcoming weekend. The measures, which take effect from Wednesday morning until Saturday morning, are designed to facilitate smoother journeys on the province’s main arterial routes, a popular destination for weekend getaways.
Key Restrictions and Closures
Colonel Hadi Abadi, head of the Mazandaran Road Police, detailed the new regulations. A central feature of the plan is a complete ban on motorcycle traffic on the primary routes, including the Karaj-Chalus, Haraz, and Firuzkuh roads, from noon on Wednesday until 8 AM on Saturday. Official and emergency service motorcycles on essential duties are exempt from this restriction.
The traffic plan also enforces continued prohibitions on trailers, trucks, and lorries. Furthermore, intermittent one-way traffic systems may be activated on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday should traffic volumes become heavy.
Specific Measures for the Chalus Route
Specific and definitive restrictions are scheduled for Friday. Starting at noon, travel towards Chalus on the Tehran-North Freeway will face limitations. By 1:00 PM, the route from the Zangouleh Bridge towards Chalus will be completely closed. A one-way traffic scheme will then be implemented from Marzanabad towards Tehran starting at 3:00 PM, remaining in effect until midnight.
Accommodations for Local Residents
Colonel Abadi emphasized that local residents have been considered in the execution of this plan. While they are permitted to use the old Karaj-Chalus road up to the Zangouleh Bridge, they will not be allowed to travel from Amirkabir Square towards Chalus during the announced hours.
Regulations for the Haraz Route
On the Haraz route, all trailer traffic remains prohibited. Additionally, trucks and lorries—with the exception of those carrying fuel or perishable goods—are banned from travel between 8:00 AM and midnight on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. A contingent one-way system may also be enforced between Polur and the Larijan Police Post if traffic increases significantly.
Official Advisory for Travelers
Authorities are strongly advising citizens to check the latest road condition updates via the Road Management Center’s information systems before embarking on their journeys. Careful planning in accordance with these new restrictions is recommended to ensure a safe and efficient travel experience.
