According to Sadeq Ziyaian, Head of the National Center for Weather Forecasting and Crisis Management, the disruptive weather pattern, active from Saturday to Monday, is affecting areas in the northwest, west, southwest, and the central Alborz mountain range. The system is characterized by increased cloud cover, strong temporary winds, dust storms, and intermittent showers and thunderstorms.
The provinces under official alert include East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Ilam, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Zanjan, Lorestan, western regions of Isfahan, highlands and northern parts of Khuzestan, and the elevated areas of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad.
Potential Hazards and Precautionary Measures
Authorities have outlined a comprehensive list of potential risks requiring public vigilance. These include slippery roads, flash floods, the overflow of seasonal rivers, sudden squalls, lightning strikes, urban waterlogging, reduced horizontal visibility, and the falling of rocks and objects from heights. The strong winds also pose a threat to lightweight structures and have the potential to cause damage to the agricultural sector.
In Tehran, conditions are forecast to be milder, with partly cloudy skies, local dust, and occasional light winds. A minimum temperature of 11°C and a maximum of 21°C is expected for the capital.
