Title: Qazvin Embraces Cleaner Commutes with Free CNG Vehicle Conversions
A National Initiative Gains Traction
A major national initiative to promote cleaner energy and reduce environmental pollution is seeing significant success in Qazvin province. According to Seyed Kiomars Komalyar, the Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) for the Qazvin region, 600 personal and public vehicles have already been converted to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) free of charge.
Driving Towards a Greener Future
The conversion program is a key part of a larger national strategy to increase the share of clean fuels in the country’s energy consumption portfolio. By facilitating a shift from gasoline to CNG, the plan directly addresses goals of reducing gasoline consumption and lowering harmful vehicle emissions.
“The project is completely free for eligible vehicle owners,” Komalyar emphasized, highlighting a major incentive for participation. “No costs will be charged for the equipment, installation, tanks, or technical services.”
Eligibility and Ongoing Efforts
The scheme currently targets owners of gasoline-powered cars from the Iranian calendar year 1394 (2015/2016) and newer. The program is also open to owners of public vehicles, who can similarly register for a free conversion.
To support the ongoing demand, four dedicated workshops for converting gasoline vehicles to dual-fuel systems are now operational across Qazvin province. The registration process has been streamlined, with interested vehicle owners directed to the official website GCR.NIOPDC.IR to sign up.
Officials have confirmed that the conversion process is continuing, building on the initial success of the 600 vehicles already adapted, marking a steady step forward in the country’s environmental and energy objectives.
