Headline: Government and Parliament Unite to Launch Essential Goods Voucher Scheme, Ensuring Price Stability
In a significant demonstration of inter-branch cooperation, a senior parliamentary official has detailed a new electronic voucher system for staple goods, a major initiative designed to provide economic relief and stability for Iranian households.
A Model of Constructive Interaction
Saeed Ahadian, the Political Assistant to the Speaker of the Parliament, emphasized the collaborative spirit between the legislative and executive branches. Appearing on the “Sepehr-e Siasat” program, he highlighted that this synergy is focused on resolving public challenges and fostering national empathy.
“While differences in opinion are natural between the branches of government, there is clear coordination and synergy between the Parliament and the government in many executive areas,” Ahadian stated.
The Electronic Voucher Plan: A Step Toward Livelihood Security
Ahadian pointed to the electronic staple goods voucher plan as a prime example of this effective collaboration, describing it as a primary concern for many citizens.
“The level of interaction between Dr. [Mohammad Baqer] Qalibaf, the Parliament Speaker, and the President demonstrates the coordination and unanimity in advancing this plan,” he said. “At the level of ministers and the Plan and Budget Organization, there is complete alignment to implement this scheme and bring livelihood peace to the people.”
Plan Details: Shielding Consumers from Price Fluctuations
The political assistant elaborated on the plan’s mechanics, explaining that the Parliament has tasked the government with providing at least five essential items to consumers at a fixed price.
“For example, if the market price for 2 kilograms of chicken changes, the consumer will still purchase the initial amount at the original price until the end of the year,” Ahadian clarified. “The government is obligated to pay the price difference to the producer and distributor, but no direct pressure will be placed on the consumer.”
Implementation Timeline and Expansion
Ahadian noted that the Parliament Speaker advocates for increasing the number of items covered. “In the first phase, five items will be covered by this plan. In subsequent phases, the number of items will increase to ten or more,” he explained.
Based on available information, the plan is projected to be launched in the third week of November. Ahadian expressed hope that the government would be able to operationalize the scheme on schedule.
Echoing this collaborative tone, the Government Spokesperson, in his recent press conference, affirmed that the voucher plan is a priority for both the administration and the Parliament, underscoring a unified commitment to supporting household livelihoods. The new voucher system will be executed through the cooperation of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Plan and Budget Organization, and the Parliament, with the core objective of insulating families from inflation for their essential needs.
