Title: Government Proposes Significant Boost to Rural Housing Loan Ceiling
In a move aimed at further supporting rural development and housing, a key official has announced a formal proposal to substantially increase the value of government-backed rural housing loans.
Proposal for Enhanced Financial Support
Hojatoleslam Hossein Rouhani-Nejad, the Representative of the Supreme Leader in the Housing Foundation of the Islamic Revolution, confirmed that a recommendation has been submitted to the government to raise the current loan ceiling. The proposal suggests an increase from the existing 400 million tomans to 500 million tomans.
Current Framework and Future Prospects
Speaking to reporters, Rouhani-Nejad outlined the current loan structure, which offers 400 million tomans at a 5% interest rate with a 20-year repayment term. He emphasized that this existing facility already covers nearly half the cost of constructing a rural home, representing a significant form of state assistance for applicants.
The official added that forecasts for the upcoming Iranian year (starting March 2025) project a potential increase in these facilities by 50 to 100 million tomans. He clarified that the final decision now rests with the government, and the relevant institutions are awaiting its verdict.
A Balanced Approach to Development
Rouhani-Nejad also highlighted the importance of a measured approach, noting that any increase in loan amounts must be carefully balanced with the applicants’ financial capacity to ensure they can manage the repayment process effectively. This consideration underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable and responsible economic support for its rural citizens.
