Title: National Resilience and Strategic Resolve Outlined in Parliamentary Address
In a comprehensive address to the open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf articulated a vision of national unity, strategic patience, and proactive governance, covering a wide range of domestic and regional issues.
A Foundation of Faith and National Service
Speaker Ghalibaf began his speech by honoring religious commemorations and the upcoming Basij Week, paying tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, for establishing the Basij organization. He described the Basij as a dynamic and vital institution that symbolizes the people’s presence in critical national arenas.
“The Basij has been a key to the sustainability, longevity, and honor of our nation,” Ghalibaf stated. “It is a boundless blessing for the Islamic Republic, having fulfilled its mission in every field the country has needed, from sacred defense to aiding in healthcare, economic development, and serving underserved areas.”
He called upon the new generation and young Basij members to pioneer innovative solutions for the country’s economic, cultural, and social challenges, moving beyond outdated governance methods to prepare Iran for a different future.
Domestic Priorities: Economic Relief and Environmental Vigilance
The Speaker took the opportunity to thank the government for its work in operationalizing a new electronic subsidy scheme, a key demand of the Leadership. He explained that the program, which aims to stabilize commodity prices for consumers, will soon be implemented, initially covering three income deciles before gradually expanding to seven.
Addressing the recent wildfires in the Hyrcanian forests, Ghalibaf expressed the deep concern shared by all Iranians who cherish the nation’s natural heritage. He praised the round-the-clock efforts of emergency personnel, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, Army Aviation, firefighters, the Red Crescent, environmental agencies, and local volunteers who worked to contain the blazes.
He announced that parliament would conduct a meticulous review of the responsible agencies’ performance during the incident. “Relevant parliamentary commissions have been tasked with preparing a detailed report on the actions of all responsible bodies,” he emphasized, pledging that any negligence or delay would be investigated and a transparent report would be presented to the people and their representatives. He further committed to strengthening essential firefighting equipment in the next year’s budget.
Regional Stability and the Path of Strategic Resistance
Concluding his address, the Speaker offered condolences on the martyrdom of Hajj Abuali Tabatabai, a veteran Lebanese combatant, affirming that the strong and blessed organization of Hezbollah continues its path with power.
Ghalibaf outlined what he described as a critical regional challenge, stating that the “Zionist regime” has adopted a strategy of “crime without borders.” He asserted that international bodies and world powers, despite global public demand, lack the will to stop what he characterized as the regime’s brutality.
“This situation is not sustainable, and patience has its limits,” the Speaker declared. “The Resistance is calculated and prudent, but it is also courageous. It is not warmongering, but it fights well when necessary.”
He emphasized that the only way to guarantee stability in the region is to confront this aggression, noting that the Resistance across the region would make coordinated and decisive decisions on this sensitive matter. The Speaker underscored that in the face of an adversary he described as disregarding human principles and international agreements, the only effective rule is strength and courage, which creates deterrence.
Finally, he called for national unity, cohesion, and public trust in the decision-making of officials as vital and guiding principles during these sensitive times.
