Title: Kurdistan Weather Forecast: Heatwave to Continue Until Midweek
Hot and Unstable Conditions Ahead
The Meteorological Department of Kurdistan Province has announced that high temperatures will persist across the region for the next four days, with localized weather disturbances expected in some areas.
According to Khabat Qamari, a meteorologist at the Kurdistan Meteorological Office, today’s afternoon will see increased cloud cover, strong winds, and scattered showers accompanied by thunderstorms—particularly in the northern and central parts of the province. However, these conditions are not expected to be severe.
Gradual Stabilization by Midweek
Qamari noted that from Tuesday, August 12, the weather will stabilize, with localized cloud formation and afternoon winds becoming the dominant patterns.
Temperatures today and tomorrow are forecasted to drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius, with the northern half of the province experiencing a more noticeable decline. In Sanandaj, temperatures will range between 38-39°C, a significant decrease from yesterday’s peak of 42°C.
Rising Temperatures Toward Weekend
From Wednesday onward, temperatures will gradually rise again, reaching around 40°C in some areas, including Sanandaj.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat, especially during peak afternoon hours.
