Title: Landmark Healthcare Initiative Launches for Retirees, Fulfilling Social Security Mandate
In a significant move to enhance social welfare, a new phase of healthcare provision for retirees has commenced, directly implementing a core legal mandate of the Social Security Law. This initiative underscores the state’s commitment to the well-being of its pensioners.
A Legal Right to Healthcare
The rollout is based on Article 54 of the Social Security Law, which clearly stipulates that insured individuals and their family members are entitled to comprehensive medical services. This includes outpatient and hospital care, provision of necessary medicines, and diagnostic tests. Crucially, the law places the direct responsibility for delivering these services on the Social Security Organization, preventing their delegation to other entities through supplementary insurance schemes.
Pilot Program Launched in Rasht
In line with this directive, the Gilan Province Retirees’ Association has formally withdrawn from a supplementary insurance contract. This strategic step, communicated to the relevant authorities, paves the way for the direct implementation of Article 54.
A pilot program for this new healthcare model is now being initiated in the city of Rasht. The city was selected due to its existing hospital, clinical, and para-clinical facilities owned by the Social Security Organization. This existing infrastructure makes Rasht a logical and practical choice for the pilot, allowing for a more efficient and effective rollout compared to cities lacking such resources.
Building a Model for National Implementation
Officials have stated that the pilot program in Rasht is a strategic move to gather vital data and operational experience. The insights gained from this initial phase are expected to create the necessary framework and readiness for a final decision on a potential nationwide implementation in the coming year. This measured approach aims to ensure the program’s sustainability and success, fulfilling the organization’s commitments to retirees while managing operational pressures effectively.
