New Contract Finalized for Iranian Retirees’ Supplemental Health Insurance
A new agreement has been reached to reinstate supplemental health insurance coverage for retirees and pensioners of the Social Security Organization, following a brief lapse in services.
Agreement Details and Financial Breakdown
Mohammad Asadi announced on Saturday the finalization of a new contract for the supplemental insurance plan. According to the details, the annual insurance premium has been set at 720,000 Tomans. Of this total, 470,000 Tomans will be deducted from the retirees’ pensions, while the Social Security Organization will contribute the remaining 250,000 Tomans. The contract is retroactively effective from the beginning of the current Iranian month, Azar (November 21, 2024).
A Collaborative Process
The agreement concludes a period of negotiation between the insurers and the High Council of Retirees and Pensioners. As reported by IRNA, Ali Dehghan Kia, head of the Social Security Retirees’ Association, had previously confirmed that representatives from all 31 provinces were engaged in intensive talks with the insurance provider to reach a fair and equitable agreement. The Social Security Organization, while not a direct party to the commercial contract, actively facilitated the dialogue to help secure a reasonable premium that serves the best interests of the retirees.
Commitment to Uninterrupted Care
In an official statement, the Public Relations Department of the Social Security Organization reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of retirees. The statement clarified that while the supplemental insurance contract is independently negotiated between the retirees’ council and the insurance company, the Organization is dedicated to ensuring the continuous provision of medical services. Contingency plans are in place to provide necessary surgical and medical care at the Organization’s owned medical centers, should any delays in service provision occur, ensuring retirees receive uninterrupted and timely healthcare.
