Title: Hashemian and Persepolis FC: Financial Negotiations at an Impasse
A Stalemate in Tehran
The anticipated resolution to the financial negotiations between former manager Vahid Hashemian and Persepolis Football Club has failed to materialize. Recent talks between Hashemian’s representative and club officials concluded without an agreement, as neither side was willing to concede from their established positions, leaving the high-profile settlement on hold.
The Core of the Dispute
The disagreement centers on financial obligations and a specific bank guarantee. According to official records, Persepolis FC had registered Hashemian’s contract at 15 billion Tomans with the League Organization and had made payments consistent with that figure up to the eighth week of his tenure.
However, a separate financial instrument complicates the settlement. Hashemian is in possession of a 35 billion Toman cheque from Bank Shahr. This cheque was issued as part of a broader club strategy earlier in the season to manage payroll obligations while ensuring promotional cooperation with its sponsors.
Sponsorship Commitments and the Current Deadlock
As part of their agreement, individuals receiving these cheques, including Hashemian, committed to cooperating with Bank Shahr in sponsorship and advertising campaigns. The central point of contention is that this specific cooperation is no longer feasible now that Hashemian is no longer the head coach of Persepolis.
Consequently, Bank Shahr has requested the return of the cheque. The bank has indicated that without its return, it will not only refuse to cash the cheque but will also pursue legal avenues to reclaim the funds. For his part, Hashemian retains the right to file a complaint with the disciplinary committee to pursue his full financial claims against Persepolis FC.
With both parties holding their ground, the path forward remains uncertain, awaiting a breakthrough in future discussions.
