Iran Updates Fixed-Line Phone Subscription Rates: Tiered Pricing for Major Cities, Provincial Capitals, and Smaller Towns
New Monthly Rates for Fixed-Line Phone Subscriptions
Recent reports confirm that as of late May 2024, fixed-line telephone subscription fees in Iran have been adjusted to reflect regional differences. The new monthly rates are structured as follows:
- Tehran & Major Cities: 30,000 Tomans
- Provincial Capitals: 22,500 Tomans
- Other Cities: 17,000 Tomans
These updates aim to maintain affordable and reliable communication services while balancing operational costs.
Fixed-Line Phones: A Reliable and Cost-Effective Service
Fixed-line telephones remain one of the most secure, economical, and widely used communication tools across Iran. Maintaining these services involves significant infrastructure expenses, which are jointly supported by the Telecommunications Company of Iran (TCI) and subscribers.
The current price for a new fixed-line connection, including a 10% surcharge and value-added tax (VAT), stands at 220,000 Tomans.
Subscription Benefits & Usage Limits
With the updated subscription fees, all fixed-line customers in the specified regions will receive 5,000 minutes of free intra-provincial calls per month. If usage exceeds this limit, additional charges will apply.
For non-residential (commercial) subscribers, the monthly fee is set at 50,000 Tomans, which also includes the 5,000-minute call package.
Coverage & Clarifications
Major cities under the 30,000-Toman tier include:
- Tehran
- Karaj
- Isfahan
- Shiraz
- Ahvaz
- Mashhad
- Tabriz
- Qom
Subscribers who do not exceed the 5,000-minute limit will only pay the base subscription fee, even if no calls are made.
This pricing structure ensures equitable access to essential communication services while supporting the sustainability of Iran’s telecommunications infrastructure.
