Iran’s Strategic Drive: 4,000 Imported Vehicles by Year-End to Boost Public Confidence
Tehran is set to significantly expand access to imported vehicles, with a senior official announcing plans to deliver 4,000 new cars before the close of the current Persian year. This strategic initiative, overseen by the government, is designed to enhance public trust and bring greater stability to the domestic market.
A Coordinated Government Effort
Mohsen Dadras, Manager of Iran’s Imported Vehicle Allocation System, highlighted the comprehensive coordination with the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade (MoIMT) and the crucial executive role of the Information Technology Development Center (MEGFA). He affirmed that this multi-agency collaboration has ensured a cohesive approach to the import and distribution process. Since the beginning of the year, four rounds of offerings have already taken place, involving a robust lottery system designed for fairness.
Bolstering Public Trust and Market Stability
A core objective of the government’s import program is to reinforce public confidence and effectively regulate the vehicle market. Dadras reported that over 363,000 applicants registered for the import scheme, with more than 19,000 vehicles from 31 different companies, encompassing 45 distinct models, already offered through the transparent lottery system. He emphasized that this structured approach has been met with widespread public approval, signifying consumer trust in the transparent mechanism.

Appreciating the collaborative efforts of the MoIMT’s Automotive Office, Dadras reiterated the ongoing commitment to ensuring swift and high-quality delivery of selected vehicles. He stated that the roadmap for the coming months prioritizes the delivery of an additional 4,000 imported cars by year-end, underscoring the government’s dedication to providing fair and equitable access to a broader segment of society. This strategic rollout aims to further address market demand and strengthen public confidence in government-led economic initiatives.
