
China Affirms Steadfast Support for Iran’s Nuclear Rights, Urges Diplomatic Path
Beijing, China – China has reaffirmed its strong support for Iran’s legitimate right to utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, advocating for a political and diplomatic resolution to the ongoing nuclear issue. This clear stance was articulated by Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin during a significant meeting with Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Special Representative and Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs.
Beijing Reaffirms Peaceful Nuclear Energy Rights
During the high-level talks, Liu Bin underscored China’s consistent advocacy for a peaceful, political, and diplomatic approach to resolving the Iranian nuclear question. He explicitly stated Beijing’s opposition to the threat or use of force and the imposition of sanctions, emphasizing China’s backing for Iran’s lawful right to harness nuclear energy for peaceful endeavors. This declaration aligns with a long-standing position of the People’s Republic of China on the matter.
Opposition to Sanctions and Force
The Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister highlighted Iran’s repeated assurances regarding its non-pursuit of nuclear weapons. He further affirmed China’s readiness to collaborate with the international community to forge a suitable and lasting solution to the nuclear dossier, underscoring a commitment to multilateralism and dialogue.
Mutual Commitment to Diplomatic Resolution
In response, Special Representative Gharibabadi conveyed Tehran’s profound appreciation for what he termed China’s “impartial and fair stance” on the nuclear issue. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to maintaining continuous communication and coordination with Beijing, signaling a shared desire to advance diplomatic efforts and ensure regional stability through cooperation.
