Rewritten Title:
Government Reaffirms Ban on Rehiring Retirees, Permits Limited Exceptions
Government Stresses Legal Compliance on Retiree Employment
Alaeddin Rafiezadeh, Vice President and Head of Iran’s Administrative and Recruitment Organization, has reiterated that rehiring retirees is generally illegal and permissible only under exceptional, temporary circumstances. His remarks came during a meeting of the 14th administration’s cabinet, addressing concerns over retirees being recalled to work instead of hiring younger candidates.
Strict Adherence to the Law
Rafiezadeh emphasized, “Rehiring retirees is entirely against the law, and current regulations explicitly prohibit this practice.” He warned executive bodies against violating the ban, stressing that no institution should bypass the law. “Permanent or long-term employment of retirees is illegal and unacceptable,” he added.
Limited Exceptions for Special Cases
The official acknowledged that in rare situations where retirees’ expertise is indispensable, temporary rehiring may be permitted—but only for up to one-third of standard working hours. “This exception applies only under unavoidable circumstances and must adhere to strict time limitations,” he clarified.
Commitment to Youth Employment
The statement underscores the government’s focus on enforcing labor laws while prioritizing opportunities for younger workers. Rafiezadeh’s remarks align with broader efforts to ensure compliance with national legislation and promote fair employment practices.
This policy reaffirms Iran’s dedication to upholding legal frameworks and fostering equitable workforce development.
