National Security Directive Impacts Iran’s Universities: Shahid Beheshti Dorms Adjust to Emergency Measures
Tehran, Iran – Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences has announced the temporary closure of its student dormitories, citing a directive from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and an unspecified “emergency situation.” The move reflects broader national adjustments and the university’s swift response to top-level guidance.
National Mandate and University Response
The decision, communicated by the university’s Cultural and Student Affairs Department, underscores a coordinated national approach to managing prevailing circumstances. While specific details regarding the “emergency situation” remain undisclosed, the involvement of the Supreme National Security Council signifies a critical national-level directive influencing public sectors, including higher education and student affairs. Shahid Beheshti University is implementing these measures to align with national policy and ensure the well-being of its student body.
Student Relocation and Essential Services Maintained
Under the new directive, most students residing in dormitories are required to return to their hometowns at the earliest opportunity. This measure aims to streamline campus operations and contribute to the overarching national efforts.
Crucially, provisions have been made to ensure the continuity of essential services, particularly in healthcare. Residency students and interns, whose presence is vital for hospital operations, are exempt from the closure and will continue to be housed in designated dormitories (numbers one to four). This exception highlights the national commitment to maintaining critical medical support.
Operational Shifts and Student Support
For those remaining in the active dormitories, new operational guidelines have been implemented. Guests are strictly prohibited until further notice. Furthermore, students must adjust their meal reservations, with food distribution now precisely tailored to the number of residents. Due to the prevailing circumstances, meals will be provided in the form of pre-packaged dry rations. The university also indicates that shuttle services to hospitals will be maintained, if feasible, to support medical personnel.
Shahid Beheshti University’s responsive actions demonstrate its commitment to implementing national directives while prioritizing the safety and continued support for its essential personnel during this period of national adaptation.
