Urgent Call: Housing Support Loans Reach Final Stages for War-Affected Families
Tehran, Iran – The government is urging eligible applicants to finalize their claims for temporary housing deposit loans, as the provision process nears completion for families impacted by the recent conflict. This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring swift and comprehensive support for rebuilding lives and communities.
Streamlined Assistance for Displaced Households
Officials have reported that the vast majority of eligible applicants in cities and villages, excluding metropolises, have received their temporary housing deposit loans. This achievement reflects a dedicated effort by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and Bank Maskan to expedite aid to those displaced by the “Ramadan War.”
A targeted outreach campaign has been launched for approximately 220 individuals who, despite being eligible, have yet to complete their application process. These families are strongly encouraged to visit their designated bank branches to secure the vital financial assistance needed for temporary accommodation.
High-Level Review of Reconstruction Efforts
The progress of housing reconstruction and support was a key focus of the ninth national meeting on “Monitoring Housing Accommodation and Reconstruction Processes.” The gathering, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, Bank Maskan, the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation, and provincial engineering and housing organizations, reviewed the latest developments.
Discussions centered on the tripartite collaboration between the Ministry, the Housing Foundation, and Bank Maskan to address the reconstruction of war-damaged properties. Reports detailed the ongoing assessment of damages, the disbursement of temporary housing loans, and the referral of destroyed units to the engineering organization for design and subsequent permitting for construction.
Financial Allocations and Disbursement Progress
A significant portion of the allocated budget for supporting affected families has been disbursed. Out of a total approved credit of two trillion Iranian Rials (approximately $47 million USD), 700 billion Rials (approximately $16.5 million USD) has already been provided to war-affected households. This demonstrates the government’s firm commitment to providing the necessary financial resources without delay.
Bank Maskan officials have confirmed that there are no impediments to loan disbursement. Eligible applicants who complete their documentation can expect their funds within two business days. They have also initiated direct contact with the remaining 220 applicants to facilitate their access to these essential loans.
Comprehensive Reconstruction and Repair Initiatives
Beyond temporary housing, substantial progress is being made in the reconstruction and repair of damaged properties. Thirteen hundred and thirty-three private residential and commercial units were completely destroyed and require rebuilding. Of these, 1134 are located in smaller cities and villages, with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Housing Foundation spearheading their reconstruction.
To date, 686 destroyed residential units have been referred to the engineering organization for architectural plans. Consequently, construction permits are being processed for 219 of these units. Additionally, repairs have been completed for approximately 33,000 out of a total of 80,000 units requiring renovation, allowing residents to return to their homes.
The loan amounts vary based on location, ranging from 300 million Rials for villagers to up to 700 million Rials for residents in provincial capitals (excluding metropolises). Families in Tehran are eligible for up to two billion Rials. Repayment periods are set at a maximum of 12 months for repairs and 24 months for new construction or reinforcement, payable in a lump sum after the contract period.
Citizens whose homes were damaged in the “Ramadan War” and who are referred by the Housing Foundation can register for loans on the housing support portal at saman.mrud.ir. For reporting damages, individuals in provinces can contact the provided phone numbers for verbal and text registration, while Tehran Municipality has established the hotline 1811.
