Title: Parliamentary Focus on Timely Implementation of Electronic Voucher Support Scheme
In a recent meeting concerning the implementation of the country’s seventh development plan, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, emphasized the critical importance of executing established laws designed to support citizens’ livelihoods.
Addressing Economic Pressures Through Legislative Action
A key topic of discussion was the Electronic Voucher Scheme, a program established by law to help ease the economic burden on families and shield household economies from inflation. Mr. Ghalibaf noted that while the law exists and the President is in agreement with its objectives, its full implementation, which was expected by the month of Bahman, has faced unexplained delays. This is despite significant recent price increases on some essential goods.
The Speaker stressed that clear responsibilities for execution and oversight exist within both the government and the parliament. He expressed a strong expectation that all relevant bodies will act in accordance with their legal duties to ensure the program’s success for the benefit of the people.
A Mechanism for Livelihood Stability
In a separate message on a social media platform, Speaker Ghalibaf elaborated on the scheme’s benefits. He described the electronic voucher program as a vital measure that can create livelihood stability for society. The mechanism works by allowing citizens to purchase essential goods at a fixed, stable price, with the government paying the difference to the market rate. This ensures that regardless of economic fluctuations, families can have confidence in their ability to afford basic necessities throughout the year.
Mr. Ghalibaf expressed strong hope that the respected government would soon begin the program’s implementation and clearly explain its mechanisms to the public.
Government Initiative for Vulnerable Households
In a related development and following the President’s directive, the fourth phase of the Electronic Voucher Scheme has officially commenced. This phase continues the program’s core mission of providing targeted support to low-income households, reducing economic pressure, and supplying basic needs.
Ahmad Meydari, Minister of Cooperation, Labour, and Social Welfare, announced that payments for this phase can be made monthly or quarterly, offering families greater flexibility in managing their living expenses. Over the past eight months, three previous phases have been executed, with significant funds transferred to eligible accounts. The primary goal remains supplying 11 essential goods items, enabling beneficiaries to meet their necessary requirements with greater ease and mitigate the impact of inflation.
