Title: Esteghlal FC Navigates Pre-Season Challenges as Key Players Manage Injuries
Training Camp Set in Kish
Esteghlal Tehran’s football squad is currently conducting a multi-day training camp on Kish Island in preparation for the upcoming season. The team is scheduled to play a friendly match against Homaye Kish, a second-division side, on Friday. The match will be held at the Kish Olympic Stadium.
Injury Updates on Key Squad Members
The camp is proceeding without several players who are currently on international duty with Iran’s senior and U-23 national teams. Furthermore, the team is managing a number of injuries among its roster.
Midfielder Alireza Koushki, who recently returned from the national team camp in Tajikistan due to an injury, has undergone successful surgery on his toe. The procedure was minor, and the player is expected to make a full recovery and return to training within a week.
The club’s two Uzbek players, defender Rustam Ashurmatov and midfielder Jaloliddin Masharipov, are also sidelined. Both players are currently in Uzbekistan receiving treatment. Ashurmatov is anticipated to rejoin the squad in Iran on Sunday. The situation regarding Masharipov’s return remains unclear, as the player has not yet undergone a scheduled surgery on his knee ligament.
Additionally, within the camp itself, player Aref Gholami has been limited to light running drills for the past two days due to a minor injury. The full extent of his condition is still being evaluated by the medical team.
Looking Ahead
The Blues are set to conclude their camp and depart Kish Island for Tehran on Saturday. Under the guidance of head coach Ricardo Sá Pinto, the team will then focus on their upcoming Iran Persian Gulf Pro League fixture. Esteghlal is scheduled to face Esteghlal Khuzestan in Ahvaz on September 11th.
