Weather Alert: Northern and Southern Iran Prepare for Incoming Rainfall and Thunderstorms
Iran’s Meteorological Organization has issued a detailed weather advisory, forecasting significant rainfall and thunderstorms for specific regions of the country starting today.
Weekend Weather Forecast
According to Sadegh Ziyaeyan, Head of the National Center for Weather Forecasts and Crisis Management, specific areas are set to experience unsettled conditions. On Saturday, September 15th, increased cloud cover and scattered rainfall are predicted for northern West Azerbaijan province, certain areas along the Caspian Sea coast, and the Alborz mountain range.
The unstable weather pattern is expected to continue into the beginning of the week. For Sunday, September 16th, and Monday, September 17th, forecasts indicate similar conditions of increasing clouds and sporadic showers for the western shores of the Caspian Sea.
Southern Regions on Alert
The advisory also highlights potential for significant activity in the south. From this afternoon through Sunday afternoon, southern parts of Sistan and Baluchestan province, the highlands of Hormozgan, and the southern and western regions of Fars province should anticipate cloud formation with a strong probability of thunderstorms and lightning.
Clear Skies Elsewhere, Wind in the East
Mr. Ziyaeyan clarified that during this period, the rest of the country can expect generally clear to partly cloudy skies. However, a separate advisory was given for the eastern belt of the nation. Over the next five days, areas particularly in northern Sistan and Baluchestan and eastern South Khorasan may experience periods of strong winds, dust storms, and a consequent reduction in air quality.
Capital City Forecast
Regarding the capital, Tehran is forecast to have clear skies today with an increase in wind during the afternoon hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are predicted to be 36°C and 25°C respectively, indicating typical seasonal weather for the city. Citizens are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins.
