Commemoration of Imam Hussain (AS) Begins with Solemn Ceremony
The first night of mourning for Imam Hussain (AS) and his martyred companions was held at Imam Khomeini Hussainiya on Wednesday evening, coinciding with the seventh night of the holy month of Muharram.
The ceremony featured Quranic recitations by internationally renowned Qari Mohammad Hassan Mowhadi, followed by a speech by Hojatoleslam Mehdi Aslani, who elaborated on the eternal struggle between truth and falsehood exemplified by the events of Ashura.
A Battle of Hope Against Despair
In his address, Aslani described Imam Hussain’s (AS) resistance against the forces of Yazid as a “jihad of hope against despair” and a clash of wills. He emphasized that spreading hopelessness and weakening the resolve of the people remains the core strategy of the “Party of Satan,” while the path of “wisdom, hope, and the hopeful” stands in opposition.
“Even when outnumbered, the forces of truth and faith can alter the course of history and triumph over falsehood,” Aslani asserted.
Poetic Tributes to the Martyrs of Karbala
The event also included moving lamentations and hymns by renowned eulogist Meysam Motiee, who paid tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and his loyal companions.
The gathering served as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of Ashura, inspiring attendees to uphold the values of justice, courage, and unwavering faith.
