New Payment Schedule Released for Social Security Pension Arrears
In a significant move to address the welfare of the nation’s retirees, the Social Security Organization has announced a definitive new schedule for the disbursement of outstanding pension adjustments. This action underscores the organization’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations to this valued segment of society.
The plan, developed following rigorous oversight by the National Audit Court, resolves the delayed payments related to pension increases and adjustments for the current year. It is set to benefit over 4.5 million pensioners, with a total net amount of 25,665 billion tomans to be paid in three installments by the end of the Iranian month of Shahrivar (late September).
A Structured Three-Phase Disbursement Plan
The organization has outlined a clear, phased approach to ensure orderly and timely payments:
- Phase One: Commencing on September 2, 2024, this phase will cover retirees with monthly pensions up to 20 million tomans and individuals receiving disability pensions.
- Phase Two: Concurrent with the regular pension payment for Shahrivar, this phase will cover survivors (spouses or children of retirees).
- Phase Three: In early Mehr 1404 (late September), following the regular Shahrivar pension payment, the remaining retirees with pensions exceeding 20 million tomans will receive their arrears.
This structured timeline provides retirees with greater clarity and certainty, marking a positive step towards securing their livelihoods.
Commitment to Retiree Welfare and Broader Services
The announcement reaffirms the Social Security Organization’s ongoing and serious focus on the timely payment of pensions and the settlement of all arrears. Retirees are encouraged to verify their payment status through the organization’s official website or the “Tamin Man” service platform, relying solely on these official channels for accurate information.
The news follows a meeting between Hormozgan province officials and the local director of the Social Security Organization, which highlighted the organization’s pivotal role in public welfare as enshrined in the Constitution. The provincial governor praised the organization’s overall positive performance despite existing challenges.
The meeting also detailed the organization’s extensive reach, covering over 1.032 million people in Hormozgan province—approximately 50% of its population. Its services span short-term and long-term commitments, as well as medical services, with significant growth recorded in payments over the past year. A continued shift towards expanding non-attendance (online) services was also emphasized, alongside ongoing efforts to harmonize and increase pension payments.
