Title: Bipartisan U.S. Task Force Investigates Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, Pushes for Transparency
A newly established bipartisan task force in the United States Congress, chaired by Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, has officially commenced its work. Its stated mission is to pursue “truth and transparency” on several high-profile issues, including Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), the origins of COVID-19, and the files related to the September 11 attacks.
A Push for Public Disclosure
During the announcement of the task force’s formation, Rep. Luna stated that the American people deserve answers that have long been withheld. “It is time we give the American people the answers they deserve,” Luna declared. “That is why I am honored to chair this bipartisan task force that is seeking truth and transparency. We will also be investigating Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, the list, the origin of COVID-19, and the 9/11 files.”
The term “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena” (UAP) is a modern, broader designation that encompasses not only strange objects in the sky but also unexplained events in water, space, or objects that appear to move between these domains.
Re-evaluating Government Secrecy
A key objective of the task force is to press Congress to re-evaluate the types of information that should remain classified versus what should be made available to the public, particularly concerning UAPs. Luna’s official statement emphasized that the American public deserves the “utmost transparency from the federal government regarding the sightings, accomplishments, and reviews of UAPs and whether they are a potential threat to American security.”
The task force’s recent hearing included testimony from three military veterans who claim to have witnessed UAPs, as well as investigative journalist George Knapp, who has spent decades reporting on claims that the U.S. government possesses evidence of advanced aerial technology.
A Call for Whistleblower Protections
A central theme of the proceedings was the call for stronger protections for whistleblowers. The task force aims to send a message that individuals who provide details on spending, policies, and procedures related to the classification and declassification of UAP information should be able to do so without fear of retaliation.
For decades, proponents of greater disclosure have argued that classified military and intelligence sensors regularly record evidence of unexplained phenomena. However, because these records are often classified to protect surveillance capabilities, they contend that the full truth remains hidden from the American public and the world. The new task force represents a concerted legislative effort to challenge that long-standing status quo.
