Title: Domestic Automakers Reaffirm Commitment to Customers, Detail Timelines for Fulfilling Orders
In a significant development for Iran’s automotive industry, manufacturers have provided clear timelines for addressing delivery backlogs and reaffirmed their commitment to meeting obligations to customers.
Navigating Supply Chain Challenges
Recent weeks have seen the automotive sector grappling with significant pressures stemming from energy imbalances and financial resource constraints. These challenges have created multiple obstacles within the supply chain, leading to delays in vehicle deliveries and raising concerns about the automakers’ ability to honor their commitments.
High-Level Meetings Yield Concrete Promises
Addressing these concerns, a productive meeting was recently held between automakers, parts manufacturers, and the Industry and Mines Commission of the Parliament. Shahbaz Hassanpour, a member of the commission, reported that while assemblers were unfortunately absent from the discussions, the meeting yielded positive outcomes.
During the session, automakers pledged to steadfastly adhere to their commitments. A key focus was the outstanding orders for Toyota models from Saipa. The domestic manufacturer announced that all pending commitments for imported Toyota vehicles will be resolved within the next 45 days, with all affected cars being delivered to customers. Furthermore, necessary decisions are slated to be made regarding other outstanding Saipa orders.
Settlements and Future Production Outlook
The meeting also addressed commitments from other manufacturers. Iran Khodro Diesel, for instance, was noted for its previously unmet obligations concerning vehicles pre-sold to municipalities and rural administrations. Both major automakers have now declared their dedication to fulfilling all their responsibilities.
Highlighting a positive step forward, successful understandings were reached between automakers and parts suppliers. Based on the agreements, Iran Khodro will settle accounts with parts makers within a 60 to 90-day window, while Saipa will do so within a 90 to 120-day period. This is expected to facilitate a smoother production flow.
It is hoped that the initiatives begun by the commission and the commitments made by the automakers will lead to a marked increase in vehicle production in the coming months, bringing clarity and reliability to the market.
