Rewritten Title: Iran’s Social Security Organization Issues Key Directive and Clarifies Child Benefit Policy for Pensioners
Article:
In a significant administrative update, Iran’s Social Security Organization (SSO) has issued a new directive for retirees and pensioners, alongside providing crucial clarifications on recent adjustments to child benefit payments.
Official Deadline Announced for Beneficiaries
The SSO’s Insurance Deputy has announced that all pension recipients must complete the pledge form for their daughters and granddaughters by October 7, 2024. This process is to be carried out exclusively through the organization’s non-attendance services portal at es.tamin.ir
. Beneficiaries are instructed to navigate to the “Pensioners / Survivors’ Pension” menu to fulfill this requirement. The announcement also highlighted the availability of the “Iranian Family Comprehensive Insurance” plan for housewives and girls through the same portal.
Clarification on Child Benefit Adjustments
The organization has moved to address reports and concerns regarding the cessation of child benefits for some survivors of pensioners. A senior official confirmed that the child benefit for eligible pensioners and survivors will be deposited by the stated October 7th deadline, emphasizing that the benefit “has not been eliminated” but was under review.
The SSO clarified in an official statement that the changes are a result of a systemic automation process and the updating of beneficiary records in line with current regulations. This data modernization has led to the automatic suspension of child benefits for survivors’ children who are over 18 years of age.
A Temporary Hiccup, Says SSO
The organization assured that while the payment of child benefits for a number of survivors has been systematically paused, no changes have been made to the pensions of retirees, disabled individuals, or the majority of survivors. It attributed the issue to necessary software upgrades and data verification.
“Software modifications and data completion are underway,” the SSO stated, adding that after the rectification of these technical issues, the necessary adjustments will be reflected in the pension payments for the following month.
Pathway for Grievance Redressal
For individuals affected by the deduction, the SSO has established a dedicated channel. They are requested to register their inquiry and submit any required legal documents solely through the 1420 service portal (https://1420.tamin.ir
) or by calling the 1420 hotline. A tracking code will be provided via SMS to follow the status of their request.
The SSO reiterated that its Public Relations Department is the only official source for news and information, urging all beneficiaries to refer to official websites for accurate updates. The 1420 hotline remains available 24/7 to address the questions of stakeholders across the country.
