Iran Extends Asphalt Distribution Deadline to Ensure Uninterrupted Infrastructure Progress
In a move to safeguard the continuous advancement of the nation’s infrastructure, the deadline for the distribution of free construction asphalt for the current Iranian year (1403) has been officially extended by two months. This strategic decision was made during a joint session involving the Court of Accounts, the Plan and Budget Organization, and the Ministry of Petroleum.
A Coordinated Effort for National Development
Mohammad Nasiri, the Head of the Working Group for Asphalt Distribution to Construction Units of the Islamic Parliament, announced the extension. He emphasized that the measure is a direct result of inter-agency cooperation, designed to ensure that vital development projects across the country proceed without interruption as the fiscal year concludes.
Financial Framework and Increased Quota
Detailing the financial arrangements, Nasiri, who is also a member of the Parliament’s Civil Engineering Commission, clarified that the Commission had previously established an average price of 8.9 million Tomans per ton for vacuum bottom asphalt. This price was subsequently confirmed by the Court of Accounts as the operational benchmark.
Following this, the Ministry of Petroleum was tasked with the monthly allocation of the barter asphalt quota to executive bodies. This year’s operational asphalt quota saw a significant boost, with an additional 600,000 tons being approved to support the expansive development agenda.
Oversight and Future Commitments
The extension was deemed necessary to utilize the remaining quota effectively and prevent any potential slowdown in construction activities. Nasiri assured that the Parliament’s Civil Engineering Commission will maintain continuous oversight over the allocation and consumption process to ensure efficiency and transparency.
He concluded by stating that the timely absorption of the allocated quota by the executive bodies is a fundamental condition for the continuation of such support in the coming years, marking this decision as a positive step toward accelerating the completion of national infrastructure projects.
