Tehran Residential Tower Fire Brought Under Control; Swift Emergency Response Prevents Casualties
A Coordinated Emergency Effort
TEHRAN – A significant fire that erupted in a residential complex in the Rey county area of Tehran was successfully contained by the capital’s fire department, leading to the safe evacuation of approximately 30 residents. According to Jalal Maleki, the spokesperson for the Tehran Fire Department, the emergency response was immediate and effective, preventing any injuries or loss of life.
The incident was reported to the emergency line 125 at 23:09 local time on Saturday night. In a swift deployment, four fire stations, along with support vehicles including a respiratory equipment unit and a hydraulic lift, were dispatched to the scene near Governorship Square.
Rapid On-Scene Response
Due to the proximity of Fire Station Number 9, the first responders arrived at the location in under two minutes, with additional forces joining them moments later. The fire had broken out in a residential complex consisting of two five-story blocks with a total of 50 units, which also included two underground parking levels.
“The intensity of the smoke and heat made it difficult for forces to enter the area,” Maleki stated. “However, firefighters, using full respiratory equipment, reached the heart of the fire.” He confirmed that two parked cars, a Samand and a Peugeot Pars, were destroyed in the blaze, with several other vehicles damaged due to the intense heat and partial ceiling collapse.
Successful Rescue Operations
Simultaneously with the firefighting operation, rescue teams were deployed to the upper floors where thick smoke had permeated, leaving a number of residents trapped inside their units or in exit routes. Firefighting personnel successfully evacuated some residents to the rooftop, while others were advised to remain in their apartments until the operation was complete.
Through the coordinated efforts, all individuals were safely extracted from the building. “Approximately 30 residents, including men and women, were helped out of the building by firefighting forces,” Maleki reported. “Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported.”
The fire was fully extinguished in a short period, preventing it from spreading to other vehicles. Operations are now focused on clearing residual smoke and securing the area.
