Rewritten Title: Iran’s Welfare Committee Expands Social Safety Net with Heating and Household Aid
Article:
In a significant effort to bolster its social welfare programs, Iran’s Imam Khomeini Relief Committee has launched a new phase of aid distribution, targeting vulnerable families with essential goods and heating appliances.
Targeted Aid for Essential Needs
Alireza Hosseinnejad, a senior official, emphasized that planning for the essential needs of supported families, especially in underprivileged areas, is a key objective of the organization. “Meeting the basic needs of households under the support of the Relief Committee is achieved through assessments by social workers,” he stated, noting that these needs are registered in the smart aid system (SAHA) to address the most pressing issues based on priority.
Combating the Cold in Ardabil
With a focus on the harsh winter conditions, particularly in the cold climate of Ardabil province, the committee distributed 150 heating devices, valued at 750 million Tomans, to supported individuals. This initiative follows a first phase where 258 household appliances, worth 1.6 billion Tomans, were distributed to supported families. Officials have also called for increased cooperation from production companies, benefactors, and charitable centers to provide more heating appliances for families in need.
Comprehensive Support for Newlyweds
In a parallel initiative in Tehran province, the committee has reinforced its commitment to supporting family formation. Hossein Fathabadi detailed a humanitarian effort providing essential dowry items for newlywed couples. These packages include 16 essential items such as refrigerators, stoves, carpets, washing machines, and tableware, destined for couples in several areas across the province.
Fathabadi highlighted that in the first six months of the current year, 529 dowry packages with a credit of 41 billion Tomans were awarded to supported newlyweds. “These actions are in line with supporting the formation and consolidation of the family foundation, promoting easy marriage, and reducing the concerns at the beginning of life for the supported individuals,” he said.
A Multi-Faceted Empowerment Approach
The committee’s support for young couples extends beyond material aid. Services also include housing deposit loans, livelihood assistance for girls for up to six months after marriage, interest-free loans, and specialized counseling in marriage, life skills, childbearing, divorce prevention, career guidance, and entrepreneurship. Special employment packages for each spouse have also been planned to facilitate a dignified and independent life through sustainable empowerment.
A recent ceremony, held on the eve of the Sacred Defense Week and in cooperation with local charitable centers, saw 40 complete dowry packages distributed to supported newlyweds in Tehran, underscoring the ongoing community and institutional collaboration in these social support endeavors.
