Title: Parliamentary Leadership Pushes for Swift Resolution on Contractual and Educational Staff Status
Tehran – In a clear demonstration of the legislative branch’s oversight role, a deputy speaker of the Iranian Parliament has assured that the government is being urged to expedite the resolution of employment status for several key public sector groups.
The announcement came during Tuesday’s open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, following an inquiry from a member of parliament.
Addressing Educational Staff Concerns
MP Mehdi Lahouti, representing the people of Langerud, raised the issue during a formal address. He reminded the assembly of a budgetary law mandating the utilization of pre-school educational staff and literacy movement instructors as contract teachers.
“We currently even employ retirees in our schools,” Lahouti stated. “Our request is that this law be observed and that the overlooked pre-school personnel also be employed.”
Lahouti further emphasized the critical need for a swift “determination of status” for corporate and contractual employees, highlighting that both the government and parliament share the will to resolve the matter.
Parliament’s Firm Stance and Follow-Up
In a direct response, Deputy Speaker Hamidreza Hajibabaei detailed the legislature’s active engagement on these issues. He confirmed that the cases of pre-school staff, literacy movement instructors, and the “Amin” project have been repeatedly discussed in parliament and formally presented to the government.
“Various meetings have been held between the Parliamentary Education Commission and the Plan and Budget Organization, and these matters are under review,” Hajibabaei said. “We are both reminding and requesting that a solution be found as soon as possible.”
Regarding the specific case of contractual employees, the Deputy Speaker underscored parliament’s decisive action. “The parliament voted resolutely on the bill for converting the status of corporate employees,” he stated. “It was confirmed by the Guardian Council, presented to the Expediency Discernment Council, ratified there, and subsequently presented to the government.”
Hajibabaei concluded by affirming that the government is now actively seeking implementation strategies, and the parliament is formally reminding the executive branch to prioritize and finalize decisions on these pressing employment matters.
