Title: Government Announces October Subsidy Disbursement, Outlines Strategic Support Measures
In a move to streamline its social support system, the Iranian government has detailed the payment schedule for October’s cash subsidies and provided an update on the state-backed electronic goods basket program. These measures, enacted under the national budget law, are designed to provide targeted assistance to lower-income households.
October Subsidy Payment Schedule
The cash subsidy for the current Iranian month of Mehr will be deposited into household accounts according to a tiered system. Lower-income deciles will receive their payments earlier and at a slightly higher rate, reflecting the government’s policy of prioritizing the most vulnerable citizens.
- Deciles 1-3: 400,000 Tomans per person, to be deposited on October 16.
- Deciles 4-9: 300,000 Tomans per person, to be deposited on October 21.
Update on the Electronic Goods Basket
Unlike the previous month, a new phase of the electronic goods basket will not be launched in October. However, households in deciles 1 through 7 still have until late November to utilize the credit from the program’s fourth phase. This credit can be used to purchase 12 essential items, including rice, cooking oil, red meat, poultry, dairy products, and legumes.
Authorities have emphasized that the temporary pause in launching a new phase is due to logistical and budgetary considerations, with a fifth phase potentially commencing in December, pending the finalization of funding.
Policy Focus: Recalibrating Subsidy Allocation
A key component of the government’s strategy is the ongoing recalibration of the subsidy system. In line with the national budget law, the policy of gradually phasing out cash subsidies for higher-income deciles continues. The resources saved from this measure are intended to be redirected towards funding the goods basket program for lower-income families, ensuring a more efficient and equitable distribution of state support.
Individuals who believe their subsidies have been incorrectly suspended can formally appeal the decision exclusively through the dedicated online portal at hemayat.mcls.gov.ir
. In-person appeals are not accepted.
This recalibration and the detailed public announcement of payment schedules underscore the administration’s commitment to a transparent and structured approach to social welfare, aiming to strengthen the economic resilience of its citizens.
