Iranian Meteorological Authority Issues Nationwide Weather Alert for Incoming Autumn Systems
TEHRAN – The Iranian Meteorological Organization has issued a detailed weather advisory, forecasting a period of significant atmospheric activity across several provinces. The national authority is actively monitoring the situation to ensure public safety and preparedness.
Key Provinces on Alert
According to Mr. Sadegh Ziaeian, Head of the National Center for Weather Prediction and Crisis Management of Atmospheric Hazards, an incoming weather system is expected to bring a variety of conditions starting Wednesday and continuing through Saturday.
The primary advisory, a “Yellow Alert,” has been issued for seven provinces, indicating the need for public awareness. The forecast predicts cloudy skies, rainfall, and occasional thunderstorms, particularly in areas of eastern Ardabil, Gilan, Mazandaran, and the western Alborz highlands. Meanwhile, other parts of the country are expected to experience calm and stable weather.
Detailed Forecast and Potential Hazards
Mr. Ziaeian provided a day-by-day breakdown of the affected regions, underscoring the government’s commitment to transparent and timely information dissemination.
- Wednesday & Thursday: Gilan, Mazandaran, northern Ardabil, the northern and eastern highlands of Hormozgan, the southern highlands of Sistan and Baluchestan, and the southern and southwestern parts of Kerman will be impacted by the system.
- Friday & Saturday: The effects will shift, with Gilan, Mazandaran, Ardabil, the northeast of East Azerbaijan, and the northern/eastern highlands of Hormozgan experiencing the weather system on Friday. By Saturday, the activity is expected to be concentrated over Gilan and western Mazandaran.
Concurrently, strong winds and dust storms are forecast for the northeast and some eastern regions over the next five days.

The meteorological official issued a stern warning regarding potential hazards. Citizens, especially those in the alert zones, are advised to exercise caution due to risks including:
- Slippery roads and potential flash floods.
- The overflow of seasonal rivers.
- Momentary severe gusts of wind, lightning, and hail.
- Reduced horizontal visibility and the possibility of dust storms.
- Rockfalls from heights and potential damage to lightweight structures.
- Agricultural and orchard damage due to frost and adverse conditions.
The capital, Tehran, is expected to remain largely unaffected, with clear skies and mild winds forecast for the immediate period.
