Title: Iran Expands Social Welfare Initiative with Major Distribution of Essential Household Appliances
A State-Driven Support Program
In a significant expansion of Iran’s social welfare programs, thousands of essential household appliances have been distributed to families in need across multiple provinces. The initiative, spearheaded by the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, is designed to improve the quality of life for supported households by providing them with vital items.
North Khorasan Leads with Substantial Aid
Officials in North Khorasan province reported a major distribution event. Majid Elahirad, the provincial head of the Foundation, detailed that goods valued at 353 billion rials were delivered. This substantial aid package included 1,500 heaters, 330 televisions, 330 washing machines, 950 air coolers, 540 refrigerator-freezers, 40 stoves, 200 vacuum cleaners, and 174 carpets.
Elahirad emphasized that the distribution was a targeted effort, with recipients identified and their needs assessed in advance through the Foundation’s “Soha” system to ensure the aid reached those for whom it was most essential.
Parliamentary Recognition of Broader Impact
A member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly praised the Relief Foundation’s multi-faceted approach. The representative highlighted that the organization’s success lies in combining livelihood assistance with cultural and educational support, a strategy that has been effective in nurturing talent and fostering academic success among recipients. The Foundation’s diverse plans in recent years were credited with playing a significant role in elevating living standards and mitigating social challenges for vulnerable families.
Nationwide Efforts and Complementary Initiatives
The wave of support extends beyond North Khorasan. In the Chabahar region, 20 refrigerators, valued at 3.4 billion rials, were delivered to families in the Sheibkouh district. Concurrently, the International Avalanche of Affection Charity Foundation has launched its own program, distributing 313 dowry packages to persons with disabilities in Razavi Khorasan province.
Seyed Javad Hosseini, head of the State Welfare Organization, announced a national plan to deliver 4,000 such dowry packages this year. He also reported on housing projects, noting that 210,000 residential units have been built and delivered to persons with disabilities since the revolution, with 46,000 more currently under construction nationwide.
Continued Support in Shahin Shahr
Further illustrating the nationwide scope of the effort, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation in Shahin Shahr conducted its fourth such initiative this year, distributing household appliances worth 210 million tomans to 25 supported families. To date, the city has provided aid to over 150 households this year, with total spending exceeding 8 billion rials.
This coordinated national effort underscores the ongoing commitment to social welfare and the enhancement of living conditions for citizens across the country.
