Tehran – In a move underscoring the state’s commitment to public safety and orderly transit management, a key mountainous road connecting the capital to northern provinces will be temporarily closed to facilitate the safe passage of livestock.
Planned Closure for Safety Protocols
Colonel Ahmad Karami-Asad, a senior police official, announced on Sunday that the Kandovan-Chalus road will be completely closed in both directions from 22:00 on October 18, 2024, until 22:00 on October 19, 2024. The measure is a standard annual procedure implemented during the seasonal migration of livestock through the pasturelands of the region.
The official detailed that while traffic will be permitted from Tehran up to the Kandovan area, passage from the Zangoleh Bridge onward to Chalus city is strictly prohibited during this 24-hour period.
Alternative Routes and National Coordination
To ensure minimal disruption to travel and commerce, Colonel Karami-Asad outlined several alternative corridors for citizens intending to journey to the northern provinces. Travelers are advised to use the Firuzkuh route, other accessible sections of the Chalus road, or the Qazvin-Rasht freeway as efficient detours.
A Priority for Citizen Welfare
Emphasizing the rationale behind the decision, the colonel highlighted that the safety of travelers on mountainous roads is the foremost priority for the Law Enforcement’s traffic unit. “Adherence to these traffic regulations and restrictions is paramount, especially during livestock crossings,” he stated. The public was urged to plan their journeys accordingly to prevent potential traffic issues and ensure a safe travel environment for all.
