A New Chapter in National Family Support: ‘Mother’s Hope Card’ Initiative Set for 2026 Launch
In a significant move to bolster national family policies, a comprehensive plan titled “Requirements and Strategies for Improving the Country’s Population Status” has been officially ratified and communicated by President Masoud Pezeshkian. The initiative, approved during the 920th session of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, marks a strategic commitment to supporting families and strengthening the nation’s social fabric.
Strategic Pillars: Advocacy and Financial Support
Abdolhossein Khosropanah, Secretary of the Council, outlined the two central pillars of the resolution: cultural discourse and tangible financial assistance. He emphasized the vital role of influential figures from the humanities, cultural spheres, clergy, and university professors in fostering a supportive cultural environment for family growth. All programs under this initiative will adopt a community-centric approach, leveraging local capacities for implementation.
Flagship Program: The Mother’s Hope Card
The cornerstone of this national effort is the “Mother’s Hope Card” program. According to the detailed announcement, starting at the beginning of the Iranian year 1405 (2026), a monthly deposit of 2 million Tomans will be made for a period of 24 months to every mother upon the birth of a child. This substantial financial support is specifically designated to cover essential costs such as nutrition, clothing, and child necessities. The budget for this program has been finalized by the Plan and Budget Organization, and the support will be provided unconditionally to all mothers.
A Long-Term National Commitment
Concluding the announcement, Khosropanah underscored the government’s firm belief in the importance of a youthful population structure. He stated that this initiative is not a temporary measure but a sustained program that will continue with full government support.
The coordination and execution of this wide-ranging resolution are the responsibility of the Presidential Institution, the National Population Headquarters, the Ministry of Interior, and the Plan and Budget Organization, ensuring a unified and efficient national rollout.
