Iran’s Foreign Minister Warns Against Persistent Infrastructure Attacks
A Resolute Warning from Tehran
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araqchi, has issued a stark warning, stating that the nation’s policy of self-restraint will cease if attacks on its infrastructure persist. The declaration underscores Tehran’s firm stance against perceived aggressions, signaling a potential shift in its response strategy.
The End of Restraint
In a statement shared on his personal platform, Araqchi articulated a clear “red line” for the Islamic Republic. He highlighted that Iran’s previous response to recent infrastructure damage, explicitly referencing “Israel’s attacks,” represented only a fraction of the nation’s capabilities. “Our response to Israel’s attacks on our infrastructure last night was only a fraction of our power. The only reason for this self-restraint was respect for de-escalation requests,” Araqchi stated. He then issued the critical warning: “If the attack on our infrastructure is repeated, there will be no more self-restraint.”
Prioritizing Civilian Protection
Beyond the immediate warning, Araqchi also emphasized the necessity of addressing civilian impacts in any future resolution. He asserted that any cessation of conflict must thoroughly account for and address the damages inflicted upon non-military areas. This statement highlights Iran’s commitment to ensuring accountability for civilian harm in the context of broader regional tensions.
