Strategic Foresight: Atwan Hails Iran’s Vigilance Against Deceptive Global Power Plays
Tehran, Iran – Renowned analyst Abd al-Bari Atwan has lauded Iran’s decisive rejection of recent ceasefire proposals and negotiation attempts, characterizing the Islamic Republic’s stance as a profound demonstration of strategic awareness against what he describes as dangerous, deceptive maneuvers by global powers. In an analysis published by Rai al-Youm, Atwan argues that these overtures are part of a meticulously crafted trap designed to serve specific geopolitical agendas.
Unmasking Deceptive Initiatives
Atwan asserts that current proposals for a temporary ceasefire and a return to the negotiating table, based on American-Israeli conditions, reflect a hidden agenda. He points to figures like Jared Kushner, former President Trump’s son-in-law, and Steve Witkoff, his real estate partner, as key architects behind these initiatives, whose primary mission, he suggests, is to advance a Zionist project.
According to Atwan’s analysis, former President Trump reportedly leveraged loyal Muslim mediators, including Turkey and Pakistan, to promote these proposals to Iran. This tactic, Atwan claims, mirrors previous attempts to mislead Palestinian resistance in Gaza through Arab intermediaries, aiming to fulfill Israeli demands, such as the release of settlers and territorial concessions, under the guise of “ceasefire agreements.” These agreements, he adds, were allegedly drafted by Kushner, Witkoff, and Tony Blair.
Iran’s deep understanding of these strategies, coupled with its perception of the mediators’ role as promoting a “fake” and “deceptive” Islamic narrative, led to an unequivocal rejection of any negotiation with what it terms the “American aggressor.” Iran reportedly stressed that it has been “bitten twice by the American snake” and will not be deceived a third time.
Triumph of Steadfastness: A Declared Victory
Atwan proclaims that the “American-Israeli aggression” has suffered a fatal defeat, having failed to achieve its objectives of overthrowing or collapsing the existing system. He highlights Iran’s unwavering steadfastness against two major global powers – the United States and US-backed Israel – for over 25 days, noting the impact on Tel Aviv and other occupied Palestinian cities, which he describes as having been turned into ruins. He posits that if this resilience and impact are not victory, then what is?
Trump’s reported withdrawal from his threats and ultimatums to bomb Iran’s energy centers is interpreted by Atwan as an implicit acknowledgment of this defeat. He further suggests that the hasty presentation of a 15-point immediate ceasefire plan, mere days after the conflict’s commencement, was a desperate effort to mitigate losses and exit a strategic stalemate.
The True Motivation: Saving an Embattled Ally
Beyond superficial analyses, Atwan contends that Trump’s primary motivation is to safeguard the “occupying Israeli government” from potential destruction or even “erasure from the map.” This, he argues, stems from witnessing the extensive fires ignited by Iran’s hypersonic, multi-warhead missiles in cities like Haifa, Tel Aviv, Eilat, Safed, Dimona, and Arad, as well as the closure of Ben Gurion Airport and the reported exodus of hundreds of thousands of Israelis.
In a stark contrast to his past boasts about fulfilling biblical prophecies for “Greater Israel,” Atwan portrays Prime Minister Netanyahu as currently seeking refuge underground, akin to a “mouse,” moving solely within heavily fortified bunkers to evade threats, a reality shared by an estimated 7 million Israelis.
Counsel for Continued Resolve and Defined Conditions
Atwan urges what he describes as “victorious Iran” to remain vigilant and not fall prey to further American deception, which he suggests is often backed by Arab and Islamic parties. He advises Iran to maintain its resolute stance and continue responding to aggression until the aggressor formally acknowledges defeat and accedes to all of Iran’s conditions. These conditions, Atwan outlines, include the lifting of sanctions and the closure of all US military bases in what he terms “colonized Arab neighborhoods” and those of “mercenary agents.”
He points out that Iran’s steadfastness has, within months of its publication, effectively nullified the new US military doctrine that mandates short, swift, and “clean” wars. This assertion, Atwan notes, is supported by polls indicating that 66% of Americans oppose their government being drawn into conflicts in Iran and the Middle East solely for what he describes as Zionist interests.
Navigating the Landscape of War and Mediation
While acknowledging that no one desires war, especially those who, like the people of the Arab and Islamic world, have experienced its devastation, Atwan recognizes Iran’s long history of enduring multiple conflicts and over 47 years of revolution amidst siege and conspiracies.
He expresses confidence in the Iranian leadership’s high level of awareness and wisdom in managing the current situation. However, he also cautions them against trusting most Arab and Muslim mediators, whom he characterizes as tools and puppets of the “American master,” intent on replicating what he calls “poisoned successes” from ceasefire agreements in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iraq, often accompanied by false promises.
Signs of Impending Triumph
Atwan concludes by detailing what he sees as clear indicators of the aggressor’s impending defeat: the alleged targeting of aircraft carriers, the effectiveness of resistance missiles in striking targets despite Israeli defense systems, the reported downing of the F-35 stealth fighter by Iranian forces, and the growing “unity of the fields” manifesting across Lebanon, Iraq, and soon, Yemen. He predicts that these developments signify a complete defeat of the aggression in the coming days. Atwan also dismisses the threat of a US Marine ground invasion of Iran and its islands, forecasting that such a move would backfire, with most US soldiers returning in coffins.
