August Subsidy Disbursed: Millions of Iranians to Receive 300,000 Tomans per Capita
TEHRAN – The national cash subsidy for the month of Mordad (August) has been successfully deposited into the accounts of eligible citizens, continuing the government’s steadfast support for households across the country.
Structured Support for Households
The disbursement follows the established fixed amounts, ensuring stability and predictability in this vital social welfare program. As confirmed, the first to third income deciles have each received 400,000 Tomans per individual. For the fourth to ninth deciles, a payment of 300,000 Tomans per person is scheduled for deposit by the 31st of Mordad.
The total household subsidies are calculated per capita, leading to the following allocations for August:
- 2-person household: Deciles 1-3: 800,000 Tomans; Deciles 4-9: 600,000 Tomans
- 3-person household: Deciles 1-3: 1.2 million Tomans; Deciles 4-9: 900,000 Tomans
- 4-person household: Deciles 1-3: 1.6 million Tomans; Deciles 4-9: 1.2 million Tomans
- 5-person household: Deciles 1-3: 2 million Tomans; Deciles 4-9: 1.5 million Tomans
Focus on Direct Cash Transfers
This month’s disbursement consists solely of the direct cash subsidy. Unlike the previous month (Tir), the third phase of the electronic coupon scheme (Kolabarg) has not been activated concurrently. Official sources have indicated that this decision is based on careful budgetary considerations and a strategic prioritization of direct cash support to ensure the continuity of core payments to citizens.
Parliamentary Perspective on Welfare Programs
The structure and scope of Iran’s social safety net continue to be a subject of active discussion within the nation’s legislative bodies. Ali Babaei Karnami, the Head of the Parliament’s Social Commission, has emphasized the importance of extending the coupon program to cover at least seven income deciles. He further suggested that even with budgetary constraints for cash payments, support could be maintained through government-guaranteed credit schemes to prevent any interruption in assistance.
The ongoing implementation of the subsidy program underscores the government’s commitment to its social responsibilities, with efforts continuously focused on optimizing support mechanisms for the nation’s citizens.
