Grand Ayatollah Endorses Use of Waqf Funds for Reconstruction Efforts
Tehran, Iran – In a significant directive addressing the vital need for housing reconstruction, Grand Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani has authorized the allocation of up to one-third of Waqf (religious endowment) funds for the rebuilding of homes damaged in recent conflict. This decision aims to expedite the recovery process for communities impacted by wartime destruction.
The esteemed cleric’s fatwa (religious ruling) was issued in response to an inquiry regarding the use of these sacred funds for the reconstruction of residential properties devastated by recent military hostilities.
Grand Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani stipulated that such utilization of Waqf assets is permissible, particularly when other avenues for reconstruction, such as public donations and the support of philanthropists, have proven insufficient to meet the immediate needs of affected families. This conditional approval underscores a pragmatic approach to leveraging available resources for the betterment of society.
The directive highlights the enduring commitment to supporting citizens and ensuring their safe and secure return to their homes. It reflects a deep-seated concern for the welfare of those displaced and a strategic application of religious endowments to serve humanitarian causes in critical times. The authorization is expected to provide a crucial boost to ongoing reconstruction projects and offer renewed hope to those seeking to rebuild their lives.
