Title: Landmark Agreement Reached to Settle Pension Obligations and Clear Backlogs
In a significant move to address financial commitments, Iran’s Social Security Organization has announced a major step forward in settling government debts and clearing pension payment backlogs, following a high-level economic coordination meeting.
High-Level Approval for Debt Settlement
The Supreme Council of Economic Coordination, comprising the heads of the three branches of government, has approved a plan to settle government debts to the Social Security Organization. The approved package, valued at 185 thousand billion tomans, will be executed through a combination of 70 thousand billion tomans in Islamic financial bonds and 115 thousand billion tomans in shares and assets.
Funding for Healthcare Providers
Upon the formal notification of this resolution and the allocation of credit, the process of issuing the approved bonds and converting them into liquid assets will begin. This multi-stage process will provide the necessary liquidity to settle outstanding payments to contracted university and non-university medical centers, as well as cover supplementary medical insurance costs.
Phased Pension Adjustments Commence
In a parallel development, the Organization has commenced the next phase of payments for pension adjustments and annual salary increases. Following an earlier payment on September 12th, the process for the remaining eligible retirees and pensioners began gradually and continuously on Monday, October 13th.
The first phase of these adjustments was previously disbursed for all retirees with a total income of up to 20 million tomans, as well as all disabled pensioners. The second phase was subsequently carried out for all survivor pensioners concurrently with their September pension payments.
