Iran Mobilizes Healthcare Volunteers Amidst ‘Unequal War’ Challenges
Tehran, Iran – As Iran navigates ongoing regional complexities, the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) has issued a significant call for volunteers to bolster the nation’s healthcare system. This proactive measure comes in response to recent incidents and what officials describe as an “unequal and imposed war,” underscoring the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens.
National Healthcare Readiness
Hamid Choobineh, Deputy for Development at TUMS, announced the full readiness of the country’s hospitals and medical personnel to serve those affected by current events. In a statement, Choobineh emphasized that Iran’s health sector stands firm alongside its people, mirroring its dedicated service during past crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are the protectors of the lives and health of our dear people, especially those impacted by these incidents,” Choobineh stated. He affirmed that nurses, doctors, support staff, and all healthcare stakeholders are diligently working to provide comprehensive care. Despite the challenging circumstances, Choobineh reported that the country has faced no crises or shortages in medical treatment, equipment, or logistical support thus far.
Proactive Volunteer Mobilization
Recognizing the potential for escalating needs, TUMS has initiated a widespread call for volunteer forces. Choobineh expressed profound gratitude to those who have already responded, noting their spirit of national solidarity.
“While we have not yet needed to deploy these registered volunteers for treating the injured, we invite all individuals ready to stand alongside our nurses, doctors, and support staff in the health sector to register,” he urged. Interested individuals can declare their readiness via the designated website: https://vcmdrp.tums.ac.ir/Volunteer-form. The primary goal of this initiative is to leverage public cooperation should the demand for medical services increase.
Aspiration for Peace
Concluding his statement, Choobineh extended his hopes for a peaceful resolution to the current challenges facing the nation. “We pray that peace and tranquility remain stable in our country, that this unjust war and calamity be removed from our nation, and we wish health for all our dear healthcare workers and all our noble people,” he articulated, reflecting a widespread national sentiment for stability and well-being amidst regional tensions.
