Central Bank of Iran Issues Public Alert on Fraudulent Online Loan Scams
In an official statement, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has urgently warned citizens about a proliferation of deceptive online advertisements promoting easy-access loans, labeling them as outright “fraud.”
A Digital Trap for the Unwary
The CBI’s announcement highlights that unscrupulous individuals are creating fake social media pages on platforms like Instagram and Telegram. These pages falsely advertise the provision of loans under various guises. The bank clarified that these platforms are nothing more than a trap designed to scam individuals, wipe out their savings, and attract clicks through deception. The public is strongly advised never to click on any links provided by these pages.
No Official Affiliation
The Central Bank was unequivocal in its disavowal, stating, “All pages related to granting loans that are active on social networks have no connection whatsoever with the Central Bank or the official banking network.” The scammers are illegally misusing the official logos and titles of the CBI and the banking system to lend a false air of legitimacy to their schemes.
A Call for Public Vigilance
The CBI’s Public Relations office has called for heightened public awareness. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and to completely ignore these alluring but fraudulent advertisements, which are published solely for the purpose of theft. The public reminder was issued that all official information regarding banking facilities and loans is communicated exclusively through the CBI’s official and verified channels and the country’s reputable banking network.
