Rewritten Title: FATA Police Issues Urgent Alert on Sophisticated Online Job Scams
In a decisive move to protect citizens from cybercrime, Brigadier General Vahid Majid, Head of FATA Police, has issued a critical public warning about a surge in fraudulent online job advertisements.
The Deceptive Scheme
Cybercriminals are exploiting popular online platforms by posting fake job listings. These ads are designed to lure unsuspecting users to malicious websites or trick them into downloading infected applications. Once these applications gain unauthorized access to a victim’s mobile phone, the criminals proceed to steal banking information and drain their accounts.
A Call for Platform Accountability
Brigadier General Majid emphasized the responsibility of online platforms in preventing the spread of such criminal content. “We have repeatedly warned these platforms,” he stated, “but unfortunately, an effective mechanism to reduce or prevent the publication of these ads has not yet been established.” He expressed an expectation for platform managers to collaborate closely with FATA Police to take the necessary actions to manage and filter this illicit content promptly.
Official Hiring Channels Clarified
The FATA Police Chief provided a clear guideline to help citizens distinguish legitimate opportunities from scams. “All official hiring processes for government agencies are conducted exclusively through the official websites of those specific organizations,” he clarified. “No state institution uses platforms like online classifieds or social media for recruitment. Therefore, any such advertisement on intermediary sites is fake and invalid.”
Enforcement and Arrests
Highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat this threat, Brigadier General Majid noted that in the first six months of the current Iranian year, 30 major cases involving unauthorized online withdrawals from citizens’ accounts were identified. In connection with these investigations, 37 perpetrators have been arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities.
A Final Advisory for the Public
Concluding the alert, citizens are urged to remain vigilant. The public is advised to report any suspicious job advertisements encountered online immediately. Reports can be filed through the official FATA Police website at fata.gov.ir or by contacting the Cyber Emergency Center at 096380. The police strongly advise against any form of payment or sharing of personal information on unofficial platforms.
