A New Chapter for Educators: Iran Approves Landmark Hourly Wage and Insurance System for Private School Teachers
In a significant move to standardize and secure the professional rights of educators, Iran has officially enacted a new, transparent system for calculating the wages and insurance benefits of private school teachers based on hours taught. This reform, described as a “historic transformation” for the sector, replaces previous ambiguous contract terms with a clear, fixed financial value for every teaching hour.
A System Built on Clarity and Fairness
The newly approved framework ensures that the salaries and social security insurance for private educators are directly and transparently linked to their teaching hours. This eliminates the previous system of vague calculations, establishing a standardized, nationwide model.
Ahmad Mahmoudzadeh, Head of the Organization for Non-Governmental Schools and Centers at the Ministry of Education, confirmed the implementation. “The process has begun,” he stated. “A teacher with 30 teaching hours will now be fully insured for 30 days and receive a full 30-hour salary. If a teacher works 25 hours, they will receive 25 days of insurance and 25 hours of pay.”
Nationwide Implementation and Digital Oversight
Emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the reform, Mahmoudzadeh added that this law applies across the entire country. The administration is focused on creating a transparent digital system for monitoring.
“We are working towards a system where everything is visible online, eliminating the need for purely physical supervision,” he explained. “This will allow for remote oversight of how many teachers are working, their hours, and their corresponding wages and insurance in each province. We hope to finalize this in the coming months.”
This policy shift is seen as a major step toward professional equality and securing the future for Iran’s private educators, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration within the teaching community for financial transparency and guaranteed rights.
