Title: New Consumer Protection Directive Sets Clearer Timelines for Vehicle Deliveries
Tehran – In a significant move to bolster consumer rights and standardize industry practices, Iranian authorities have issued a new directive mandating the use of calendar days for all vehicle delivery contracts.
Strengthening Consumer Safeguards
The directive, announced by the Organization for the Protection and Supervision of Consumer Rights, enforces a key provision of the Law on Protecting the Rights of Automobile Consumers. Shaniyan, the Deputy Inspector of the organization, stated that all delivery deadlines stipulated in sales contracts must now be explicitly based on calendar days, not working days.
This measure is designed to eliminate ambiguity and provide car buyers with a more precise and predictable timeline for receiving their purchased vehicles.
Clarity and Contractual Compliance
The official emphasized that the regulation is essential for safeguarding the rights of purchasers and preventing potential legal disputes. For existing contracts where the term “working days” is used, the calculation and execution of delivery obligations will now be based on the calendar day standard.
Furthermore, the announcement clarified that all new vehicle sales contracts must exclusively use the calendar day basis. Automobile manufacturing companies are obliged to adhere to this new rule.
Accountability and Enforcement
The responsibility for the precise implementation of this directive rests with the contracting companies. The organization has made it clear that any failure to comply will be pursued through the relevant legal channels, underscoring the government’s commitment to enforcing this consumer-friendly policy.
