Title: Iran Enhances Subsidy System with New Digital Registration Platform
A New Chapter in Subsidy Management
Iran has initiated a significant upgrade to its national subsidy system by launching a new, streamlined digital process for household registration. This move is designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of distributing financial support to citizens.
Streamlining Household Data
According to Seyed Alireza Mousavi, Head of the Information Technology Center at the Subsidy Targeting Organization, the method for updating family status information has been modernized. Previously, changes such as marriage, divorce, birth, death, and custody were processed monthly through various offices.
“Today, with the launch of the Civil Registration system and other platforms, that process has been entirely phased out,” Mousavi stated. He emphasized that all services related to subsidy reception are now centralized through the “SIMIN” system, which is dedicated to correcting and updating family consumption patterns. The official expressed hope that other sectors would also integrate with this unified digital framework.
The Critical Need for Bank Account Registration
Addressing a key requirement for receiving payments, Mousavi clarified that the primary element for any transaction is a registered bank account.
“The first requirement for transferring funds to anyone is having their bank account number,” he explained. “Unfortunately, if I do not have an account number for an individual, I cannot proceed with a payment.” He noted that even if a household is eligible for cash subsidies, the payment cannot be processed without this essential information, underscoring the importance of citizens ensuring their details are up-to-date in the new system.
